1. Am I supposed to bring a horse?
No, horses are provided. The Ranch horses are used to the terrain, environment and trails. The ranch has over 25 horses to choose from! They are very solid and dependable.
2. Can I bring my own horse?
You cannot bring your own horse.
3. What if I don’t have any horse experience?
No problem! You do not need to have any riding or horse experience to attend but please keep in mind we will be spending a lot of time in the saddle. If you’re not used to spending time in the saddle you will probably experience some soreness! The Ranch horses are very safe and dependable. They have horses available that can cater to beginner riders.
4. Will horsemanship techniques be taught at the retreat?
This is not a horsemanship clinic so we will not be doing or teaching any arena work or horsemanship exercises.
5. I have a dietary restriction, can I be accommodated?
Absolutely! The ranch can accommodate all dietary restrictions.
6. Can I bring a friend?
Please do! There is a discounted “bring-a-friend” rate to book a shared room.
7. Can I opt for a shared room even if I don’t come with someone I know?
Yes! Please contact me for access to the shared room rate.
8. How do I get to the ranch?
Transportation from Jackson Hole Airport or Riverton Airport will be provided. From either airport the drive to Dubois, WY is about 1.5hrs and then another 25min drive up the dirt “Ranch Road” to get to Absaroka Ranch.
9. Which airport do I fly into?
Jackson Hole Airport usually has the most flight availability and ideal flight times. Riverton Airport is another good option for closest proximity.
10. Does the ranch have wifi and cell service?
Yes, the ranch does have wifi (strongest connection is in the main lodge). There is no cell service driving up the Ranch Road but once you get to the ranch you should have cell signal.
11. What does connecting with horses mean?
Connecting with horses can and will have different meanings and depths throughout the retreat experience. We will spend time throughout the week with the horses 1 on 1 in a non-riding capacity. It will involve mindfulness, presence, and time “being” with and around the horses.
12. When should I arrive?
The retreat kicks off with a welcoming and social hour around 5pm on June 22nd. Check-in time is as early as 3pm on the 22nd. Check out time on the 28th is no later than 10am.
13. What if I’ve never done yoga?
No problem! The yoga practices we will be doing are doable for any experience level.
14. What is a cacao ceremony?
A cacao ceremony is a sacred ritual that uses ceremonial-grade cacao to facilitate a deeper connection to your heart, the present moment, and the group around you. At its core, it’s about opening yourself up emotionally, energetically, and spiritually- to gratitude, self-reflection, and connection.
15. What do I bring?
With the ranch being at 8,000 feet (and the town of Dubois at 7,000 feet) the evenings and mornings can be chilly! A warm jacket is advised and packing/dressing with layering in mind. Pants (jeans, leggings, etc.) are required for horseback riding. Cowboy boots or some type of boot is highly recommended for riding. Bring comfortable clothing for yoga and meditation times.
16. Are there payment options?
Yes! Payment plans are available if you don’t want to pay in full. There are two payment plan options for early bird pricing: 25% deposit with the remaining paid in equal monthly installments over 5 months OR pay in 4 equal installments with the 1st payment due upon sign up and the remaining three installments paid every six weeks.
